D-FW construction starts dipped in August
A decline in Dallas-Fort Worth commercial building starts in August pulled down total construction activity for the month.
But year-to-date building activity in the D-FW area is still ahead of where it was last year.
Nonresidential building starts in North Texas fell 19% in August compared with a year earlier, according to the latest report from Dodge Data & Analytics. The decline in commercial building offset a 7% gain in residential starts.
For all of August, almost $2.6 billion in D-FW building starts were recorded. That pushed total area construction activity for the first eight month of the year to $19.3 billion — 18% higher than the same period of 2020, Dodge Data found.
