D-FW Counties Saw Big Home Sales Surges in November

Two counties north of Dallas saw some of North Texas’ biggest home sales spikes in November. Sales of single-family homes by real estate agents were up more than 30% from a year ago in both Collin and Denton counties, according to the latest update from the MetroTex Association of Realtors.

Home sales for the entire North Texas area were up 23% last month year-over-year. Dallas County had a 20% rise in sales from November 2019 levels, and sales in Kaufman County were up almost 44%.


Tarrant County continues to lead North Texas in total home sales with 2,296 houses sold by agents last month. Dallas County was second with 2,213 sales. Most Dallas-Fort Worth area counties saw sizable home price increases in November. Median home prices were up 16.6% year-over-year in Rockwall County. Prices rose almost 14% in Dallas County. 

Ellis County had the smallest annual price gain — just 1.1%.

All of the North Texas counties had steep declines in the number of houses listed with real estate agents for sale. The greatest inventory drops from 2019 levels were in Collin County — down 58.3% — and Rockwall County, which had a 57.7% drop in the number of houses for sale compared with a year ago...
