Dallas County Saw the Largest Dip in April Home Sales
Dallas County was the area’s big loser in the April home sales slide. Home sales in the county were down 27.2% from April 2019 because of the impact of the pandemic, according to data from the MetroTex Association of Realtors.
Tarrant County was close behind with a 23.1% year-over-year decline in home sales by local real estate agents. However, Tarrant County still had the most sales with 1,938 purchases.
Sales were up from a year ago in two North Texas counties: Kaufman and Ellis. Both of those areas have recently seen rapid home sales increases.
With the pandemic, many potential sellers have backed away from the traditionally busy spring home sales market. Home sales listings with real estate agents were down 23.9% in Collin County from April 2019 levels. Listings were down more than 18% in Denton County. All of the Dallas-Fort Worth counties continued to see higher home prices in April. The biggest year-over-year gain was Ellis County at 6.4%.
For all of North Texas, median home prices in April were 5% ahead of those from a year earlier.
