Dallas County Home Prices Soar in January
January was a huge month for Dallas-Fort Worth home sales. And prices rose at a rapid pace, too. North Texas median home prices rose 8% in January from a year earlier. But the price increases varied from county to county. Dallas County home prices soared by more than 12% year-over-year, the most of any North Texas county, according to data from the MetroTex Association of Realtors.
And Collin County home prices were up 7% from a year ago.
The smallest price gain was in Kaufman County, which was up only 0.5%. The largest increase in home sales was in Ellis County, which rose more than 55% from January 2019. Kaufman County sales were up 34%.
Tarrant County had the largest number of sales — 1,593 single-family homes sold by real estate agents in January.
A larger inventory of more affordable homes on the market has given Tarrant County an edge with buyers.
Last year was a record year for home sales in North Texas, with more than 108,000 properties sold by real estate agents — about 3% more than in 2018. Median home sales prices for the area were also up 3% in 2019...
