$300 Million Residential Community With 1,000 New Homes On the Way
A residential community in the works east of Dallas will bring 1,000 new homes.
Developer Wynne/Jackson is building the Overland Grove community on FM 548 south of downtown Forney. The 360-acre project has been underway since last year.
The $300 million project will include a community center with a resort-style pool, hiking trails, a fishing pier and private parks. North Carolina-based LandDesign has been hired as the landscape architect for Overland Grove. “Younger people and families just starting out want more than a nice house and good schools,” LandDesign’s Heth Kendrick said in a statement. “They’re looking for connections to the community, outdoor lifestyle options and social settings they can enjoy. “With its natural focus including gardens and fruit trees and outdoor recreation, Overland Grove will appeal to families looking for a country-like setting in close proximity to a city lifestyle.”
Completion of the amenity center is scheduled for January. Homes in Overland Grove will be priced from $275,000 to $400,000.
