California Electronics Firm Opening Garland Plant
An international electronics firm is bringing 150 new jobs to Garland. Garland has approved a deal with All Quality and Services Inc. to renovate and move into new facilities at 2010 Merritt Drive.
The company said its new manufacturing and shipping location will have a minimum value of $3.6 million as it upgrades and outfits its 58,000-square-foot building. The addition of the 150 new jobs will have a payroll of $8.1 million a year, Garland’s economic development department estimates.
Founded in 1991 in California Silicon Valley, All Quality and Services Inc. has facilities in California, China and South Korea. The company’s computer components are used in the medical, automotive, mobile telecommunications, gaming and industrial industries. AQS bought the two-story Garland office and industrial building this summer. Developed in 1986, property near the intersection of Miller and Jupiter roads was previously the headquarters of National Spirit Group. Bradford Commercial Real Estate Services negotiated the sale.
“We are very excited to welcome AQS Inc. to Garland and Texas,” David Gwin, director of Garland’s Department of Economic Development, said in a statement. “Our goal is to help this valued and growing manufacturer thrive as we fully appreciate their role in further diversifying the city’s tax base and increasing technological competitiveness for our community on an international scale.”
Based in Freemont, Calif., the Garland operation will be the company’s first location outside its home state. AQS has six locations in China plus two in South Korea. With rising international trade tariffs, some manufacturers have been expanding their U.S. manufacturing operations.
