Lower Prices Gave Tarrant County the Edge in September Home Sales

Tarrant County was the big winner in North Texas’ September home sales. Real estate agents sold more than 2,300 homes in Tarrant County through their multiple listing service, according to data from the MetroTex Association of Realtors. That was a 4% increase from September 2018 totals. Lower home costs in Tarrant County have boosted purchases this year. The median price of houses sold by agents in Tarrant County last month was $240,000 — the most affordable of any county in North Texas. 

While Tarrant had the greatest number of home purchases, the biggest increases were in Rockwall and Collin counties. September home sales jumped 25.9% in Rockwall County year-over-year. In Collin County, home sales were 17.5% higher than in September 2018, according to the Realtors association. 

The greatest gain in homes on the market was in Dallas County, where the number of real estate listings with agents was 19.6% higher than last September. Through the first nine months of 2019, single-family home sales by North Texas real estate agents are running 2% ahead of a year ago. Median home sales prices for the area are up 2% to $265,000...
